Guide to choosing the electric boiler

Choosing the ideal boiler for your home requires attention to several key factors. First of all, consider the power needed based on the size of the home and the number of inhabitants. Evaluate the energy efficiency of the boiler, opting for high performance models to reduce consumption and environmental impact. Look into additional features like smart thermostats, which offer greater control over temperature and energy savings. Finally, make sure that the electric boiler complies with current regulations and check the availability of technical assistance and guarantees offered by the manufacturer.

In recent months there has been a lot of talk about electric boilers, generating curiosity but also some confusion. Let's try to clarify this topic.

The electric boiler represents the ideal solution for those who cannot install a traditional gas boiler, perhaps due to structural constraints that prevent the correct exhaust of fumes.

It is important to underline that the electric boiler IS NOT a heat pump: the operation and heat production are very different from each other.

For example: the electric boiler consumes 1 kW of electricity to produce 1 kW of heat. The heat pump, on the other hand, with 1 kW of electricity, generates from 3 to 4 kW of heat.

This simple comparison highlights how the heat pump is more efficient than the electric boiler, especially for heating medium-large rooms.

Furthermore, the electric boiler takes care of heating ONLY. For domestic hot water, a separate water heater or boiler must be installed. It is therefore essential to contact a professional capable of evaluating the existing system and suggesting the best solution for the specific home.

The water temperature can reach 85°C, making it suitable for both radiators and underfloor heating (which requires 35°C water).

Discovering the Vaillant Eloblock electric boiler

Among the electric boiler models, certainly one of the best known is the Vaillant Eloblock electric boiler.
Before purchasing the Vaillant Eloblock electric boiler it is important to carefully evaluate the heating needs of the home. Who can determine this precisely? A qualified installer or an expert heating engineer. In any case, it is advisable to rely on a competent professional in the sector.
The available powers are: 6, 9, 12 and 14 kW.
The 6 and 9 kW models are SINGLE-PHASE at 230V.
Attention: the maximum limit allowed by energy suppliers for single-phase meters is 9 kW. However, a 9 kW boiler with a 9 kW meter does not allow the use of other electrical devices, not even a light bulb!
Traditional meters hardly support more than one 6 kW boiler not at full capacity.
The 12 and 14 kW 400 V boilers are three-phase.

When to choose an electric boiler?

The advantages of an electric boiler are numerous and make this choice particularly attractive. First of all, the thermal efficiency is extremely high, ensuring optimal efficiency. The electric boiler can be installed anywhere in the house thanks to its flexibility and small size, which allows it to be placed even in narrow spaces without the need for ventilation like gas ones. Installation is quick and easy, and its low environmental impact is a big plus, as it does not emit exhaust fumes. Furthermore, it does not require mandatory periodic maintenance, is simple to use and involves lower costs for both purchase and installation. The most recent models have an advanced control panel that allows you to program switching on and off, as well as setting a weekly schedule to avoid energy waste. Some devices also offer wireless functionality, allowing convenient and remote management of the boiler.
