How to choose the electric boiler
Let's get to know the new Vaillant Eloblock electric boiler together.
This is the big news of recent months and there is a lot of curiosity and unclear ideas surrounding the topic of electric boilers.
So let's try to clarify things a little.
The electric boiler is the solution for all those who cannot install a traditional gas boiler because perhaps there are structural constraints that do not allow the correct exhaust of fumes.
The first aspect that is worth specifying is that the electric boiler IS NOT a heat pump: the operation and heat production are very different from each other.
For example: the electric boiler absorbs 1Kw of electricity and produces 1kW of heat. The heat pump, on the other hand, absorbs 1kW of electricity and produces from 3 to 4 kW of heat.
From this simple fact we can deduce that the heat pump is more convenient than the electric water heater, especially for heating medium-large rooms.
Furthermore, the electric boiler ONLY deals with heating. For domestic hot water it is necessary to install a water heater or a boiler and it is therefore essential to contact a professional capable of evaluating the existing system and suggesting the best solution for the home in question.
The water temperature reaches up to 85° so it is good for heating radiators but also for underfloor heating (which requires hot water at 35°).
The dimensions of the Vaillant Eloblock electric boiler
Before purchasing the Vaillant Eloblock electric boiler, it is a good idea to check the heating needs of your home. And who can determine it? The installer or a heating engineer. In any case, it is best to contact a qualified professional in the sector.
The sizes available are: 6, 9, 12 and 14 kW.
The 6 and 9kW are SINGLE PHASE at 230V.
Attention: the maximum that electricity companies allow for single-phase meters is 9kW. But the 9kW boiler and 9kW meter do not allow the use of anything else that involves the use of electricity, not even a light bulb!
Traditional meters hardly support more than 6kW boiler not at full capacity.
The 12 and 14kW 400 V boilers are three-phase.
