How to choose the toilet seat

Posted on2018-05-07 210
It seems trivial, but the world of toilet seats, in technical jargon seats, is really vast and complex.
Often we are faced with many types of toilet seats that differ in shape, material and finish and it is sometimes difficult to understand what are the differences between one model and another and which one is better to choose.

With this guide we want to help you give a quick and easy answer to the questions that, we are sure, almost all of you ask when choosing the right toilet seat for your toilet: “But how many models!”, “I don't understand which one I have to choose! "," But can I waste all this time for a toilet seat ?! ".

Let's start with the basic assumption.
When we talk about toilet seat or toilet seat, we are referring to the combined plank + lid. There are companies that also supply the separate components, but it is much more common to find the complete seat. Together with the axis and cover, the hinges for installation are also always provided.

In any case, hinges and rubber bumpers are spare parts that can also be purchased separately.

The materials.
Until a few years ago, toilet seats were made of wood. Those of the very first generation were made of solid wood and were gradually replaced by polyester: the core of the seat is made of chipboard covered with a polyester resin. These are excellent quality products that guarantee good durability over time. The only flaw: they are quite expensive.

The new generation seats, on the other hand, are for the most part made of thermosetting, a very resistant synthetic / plastic material whose final finish is very similar to ceramic. The thermosetting toilet seat is certainly durable over time, also from the point of view of color, but it requires a fairly substantial economic investment.

Operation.
The operation of the toilet seat hinges determines how they are closed. There are toilet seats with normal closing and toilet seats with slow closing (the descent of the lid is "accompanied" and slow).

The shapes.
In addition to the classic toilet seat, there are also slim seats on the market, that is, both with axis and with super thin or enveloping covers. The enveloping seats are those seats that have a lid that covers the axis and rests on the ceramic.

Sanitaryware manufacturers guarantee the distribution of toilet seats and related accessories even several years after the production of the related sanitary ware has been discontinued. In the event that the seat is no longer available, it is possible to resort to the productions of companies that make items exactly identical to the originals and therefore perfectly compatible with the sanitary ware.
