Acquaclick furnishes: the Shabby Chic bathroom

Posted on2022-10-10 1289

Shabby Chic style is the trend everyone is talking about. But what exactly is it and how can we recreate it in our bathroom?

The term "Shabby" literally means aged, worn which, combined with the word chic, of which we all know the meaning, seems almost a contradiction.

Instead, it is a well-defined interior design style, characterized by furniture, furnishings and accessories that have an aged effect that best represents this style.

The Shabby chic style was born in Great Britain in the country houses where the furniture was characterized by period furniture, wallpapers, large chandeliers.

Which furniture to choose for a Shabby decor?

The choice must necessarily fall on furniture rich in inlays that represent a bygone era with an almost "dusty" effect characterized by pastel paints capable of giving a second chance to the old style and a new life even to dated furniture.

If you have some DIY experience, you can create the shabby chic bathroom furniture yourself: it will be enough to choose an old piece of furniture (even for the living room) and proceed with the stripping and subsequent coloring with soft and light colors.

To fit over a countertop washbasin, it is necessary to make sure that the piece of furniture has a wooden top that can be shaped to pass the sink siphon and that, at the same time, the backrest can also be cut to size to allow correct positioning of water connections and drainage.

If DIY is not really your strong point, there are various ready-made solutions that can be tailored to have the same result: an example is the Augusto collection by Arbi.

Shabby chic wall tiles and tiles

To make a Shabby bathroom a big help can also come from the covering tiles, starting with a great classic: the cement tiles.

Cement tiles have become very popular in recent years and, when combined with a sober and simple background coating, they are able to enhance some components of the bathroom, such as the shower area, or they can cover an entire wall.

Tile manufacturers have also tried their hand at manufacturing coatings that can recall the shabby chic style with decorations with an aged and time-worn look or with material textures that are very suitable for combining with furniture marked by time.

In recent years, the trend called "Industrial Chic" has also been gaining ground, a modern and more "dark" evolution of the Shabby chic style that uses darker colors and more minimal furnishings but always in combination with antique coatings.

Even the industrial chic style is able to recreate welcoming environments that are very versatile in furnishing possibilities.

These are just some of the tips for furnishing a bathroom in Shabby chic style, halfway between vintage and modern: if you wish to have complete advice on how to furnish your bathroom in this style, contact our interior designers at ordini@acquaclick.com to get a complete quote.
