Designing a blind bathroom

Posted on2022-05-16 727

A second bathroom in the house always has great added value even if sometimes it is necessary to compromise.

The second bathroom in your home is an advantage both in terms of the value of the property and for the convenience of use by the whole family but, in some cases, the space in which the second bathroom can be obtained does not allow ventilation and natural lighting.

According to the Italian building regulations, it is possible to create a bathroom without a window only if it is a second bathroom, the main bathroom must therefore always have a window.

There are some small tricks to follow to get a comfortable and welcoming blind bathroom.

Forced ventilation and suction

Not having the possibility to ventilate the room by opening the window, it is of fundamental importance to have an extractor for forced air exchange that is proportionate to the size of the room: the extractor will have the task of extracting bad smells and creating a recirculation of '' air introducing new air from the outside, thus ensuring the correct exchange, essential to avoid the stagnation of humidity and the consequent formation of mold.

Vortice is a leading company in the production of vacuum cleaners for the bathroom and other rooms in the home and has in its range simple vacuum cleaners, the classic white plastic vacuum cleaners, or more sophisticated and design models.

One of the most purchased is the Vortice Punto Filo aspirator, which is available both in the simple version and in the version with shutdown timer and in the more advanced version with timer and humidity sensor.

If the style of the house, on the other hand, requires a more sophisticated solution, you can opt for the Vortice Punto Evo exhaust fan, characterized by a minimal design and a grill with regular holes and available in different metallic colors.

The importance of bathroom lighting

If we want to have a partially naturally illuminated blind bathroom, a solution can be to create a glass part above the door in order to obtain natural light from the adjacent room or, for a more modern solution, it is possible to opt for a satin glass door.

In the case of using a fully glazed door, even if satin, it is preferable not to place it in front of or next to the bathroom fixtures to ensure greater privacy.

Of fundamental importance, however, to compensate for the lack of natural light, is to correctly size the artificial light that will be used: no to the dim light that can be used to create an atmosphere in moments of relaxation, green light to different lighting points to best characterize space.

A trick to increase the brightness of the bathroom and, consequently, make it seem even bigger, is to use a large bathroom mirror: in this way the light will be reflected by the mirror and will also illuminate the corners that remain more hidden. .

An excellent company that produces bathroom mirrors is Koh-I-Noor which has models with or without lighting in many standard sizes but which also produces special mirrors tailored to particular needs.

Ultra resistant floors and walls

Even for the bathroom cladding, especially if it is blind, only high quality materials must be used so as not to have damage due to humidity: the best solution is always porcelain stoneware.

The porcelain stoneware tiles for the wall covering are extremely resistant to use and abrasion as well as to humidity and, in general, to adverse environmental conditions.

Furthermore, by opting for light and neutral colored tiles, the covering can help give the idea of an airy and bright environment and, even the decorative tiles, should only be placed in a few strategic points.

A simple tile capable of giving this effect is the Block tile by Marazzi, a semi-matt resin effect that is available in various finishes and sizes and is suitable for creating a truly elegant blind bathroom.
